Afro Hair & Beauty Show  2003

Over the weekend  of 25/26th May the 21st Annual Afro Hair and Beauty Show was held at Alexander Palace North London.

This is one of the largest hair fashion shows for black men and women in the UK and it had a fantastic turnout, with young people coming from all over the country to check out the latest trends and just to see and be seen!

With hair and beauty experts on hand to offer advice along with the opportunity to take part in seminars, from leading specialists, there was indeed something for everyone who made the visit to North London on what turned out to be a bright weekend, both inside and out.

Organized by Grace Kelly and Verna McKenzie the Afro Hair and Beauty Show continues to provide information on latest product lines and affords fashion conscious trendsetters an insight into what's new by highlighting hair talent in the UK.

2nd Year College students compete within a 30 minute 'live' contest, overseen by three judges, in order to  putt their afro hairdressing theory into practice.

With the models doing the hair styles proud by strutting their stuff on the catwalk with colourful dress and makeup to match.

Twists, a dash of colour, and the spiky look was prominent making those in decision have a hard time picking the winner!

Eventually, after some debate, we had a result and the crowd weren't the only ones pleased!

Being pampered with free makeovers and 'goody bags' - with product samples - enable some to leave the show with an altogether 'new look'.

All were anxious to check out each and every stall. People watched rappers and beauticians in adjoining stands and others just ate 'Johnny Cakes' or West Indian 'Patties' dished up to provide for hungry souls.
